Weekly brainstorming group Do you have a problem and need help in coming up with the solution? Or are you good at brainstorming other peoples problems? Come and join The Brainstorming Group. How much does it cost? Nothing. It's totally free Can I just turn up on the night? No. Because numbers are limited we need to have you tell us you are coming before the meeting. So if you just turn up on the night you will not get in. Can I bring along other people? Yes, the more the merrier. If there are a lot of us then we will split into smaller groups. Remember that each person coming along needs to register for themselves. Contact me for registration forms Does everyone who attends need to bring a problem? Absolutely not. Some people will come along because they enjoy brainstorming and are creative. Some will just be inquisitive to see the process. Some will come along just to meet people but will soon get engrossed in the brainstorming challenge Can I just bring up a problem once I am at the meeting? No. all problems must be submitted to us before hand. When you come to the group you will know whether you are going to have the group brainstorm your problem or not. The group will only know the brainstorming issues once they arrive at the meeting. Can I keep my problem anonymous? Yes. If you prefer not to let the rest of the group know that it is your problem we will introduce the problem anonymously. But you can of course tell the group your problem yourself which gives them the opportunity to ask more about it What kind of issues can I bring to the brainstorming group? Any at all, from complex problem solving issues to deep issues right through to seemingly small problems. They can be physical, non physical, real, imaginary, commercial, career or personal Do people just give me one line answers on what they think I should do? No. this is a brainstorming session not an advice group. Each issue will be brainstormed for up to 30 minutes each where, not only suggestions will be made but creative practical problem solving discussion will take place. It is a safe place where everyone is encouraged to be as creative as possible with their thoughts Is it a free-for-all or is someone in charge? There will always be a facilitator there to help the group move forward and to oversee the meeting Do I need to come along every week? No. come along to as few or as many as you like. However you must register for each week if you want to attend the meeting that week How does it work? The best way to solve any problem, issue or challenge is to come up with as many ideas, thoughts and suggestions as possible solutions. Then decide for yourself the best way forward. Often we are immersed in a problem, issue or challenge we can't see a solution. That's where brainstorming group comes in. You will receive creative, suggestions from people who are not attached to the situation Brainstorming encourages members of a group to think freely - going beyond the limits of customary thought on a topic - in order to generate fresh ideas. The aim is to break down the prevailing mindset within the group and to think the unthinkable. The aim is to capture as many free-flowing ideas as possible, to seek quantity, not quality Are there any rules? A typical idea-generating session should not last more than 20 - 30 minutes. We wil have up to 4 topics for discussion (i.e. sessions) at any one meeting No criticism, e.g. "Oh what a silly idea", "That isn't practical" Quantity of ideas is needed - don't hang back No objections during the session No one is here to give advice …. We are here to brainstorm State ideas quickly and in a manner in which no enlargement is needed Don't mind stating the obvious and don't fear repetition Do combine and improve on other ideas Where?
